About the Show
Beyond the Plate is a cooking competition show in which contestants are challenged to cook different types of foods using only a hot plate, which are then judged by host Morgan, author of Morgan Creates: The Basics for Amateur Cooks, and guest judges who have an affinity for food. Over the course of the series, contestants, all of whom are home cooks, must make a wide variety of common dishes, set out by Morgan. Each episode fits with a certain theme food item to be prepared, with the common ones being sliders, pastas, and quick bites. Within each episode, a “challenge” is completed, which is timed at 5 minutes to shop a pre-pantry, and 15 minutes for execution. These challenges are judged on taste, presentation, and creativity. At the end of each show, one contestant is named Beyond the Plate champion - based on their performance during the episode – and gifted a grand prize.
